The zoo uses a Tibetan mastiff to pose as a lion

Recently, animals in the People's Park Zoo in Luohe City, Henan Province, have been questioned. The iron cage marked as an African lion sees a barking Tibetan mastiff.

Yesterday, Luohe People's Park responded that the zoo had closed the park from the 14th for rectification and apologized to the public; the contract signed with the individual has now been terminated, and the proposed rectification measures will be approved by the higher authorities. In an interview with the media, the director of Luohe City People's Park said that the zoo was contracted by individuals and it was personally run.

The reporter learned that in October 2010, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development issued an opinion requesting to resolutely correct illegal operations such as leasing and contracting the zoo.

Qiao Hua, the director of Luohe People's Park, admitted that the zoo was indeed contracted by individuals and that it was a personal business, and that this situation existed before the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development prohibited private contracting in October 2010. Because the contract has not yet expired, it is not good to unilaterally terminate the contract.

Yesterday, the staff of the People's Park told the Beijing News reporter that the zoo was contracted in 1998 and was allowed by the policy at that time. It is negotiating with the contractor to terminate the contract. The zoo closed the park for rectification from the 14th and several unscrupulous animal signs were replaced.
