On May 27th, MRS (World Medical Robotics Association)'s "Medical-Into Robot Age" Touring Salon was held in the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, from Lausanne Polytechnic EPFL, Zurich Institute of Technology ETH, University of Zurich UZH, ROBO Medical Robot Research More than 30 professors, researchers, business representatives and intellectual property experts in the field of medical robots and artificial intelligence participated in the salon. One of the keynote speakers at the conference, Professor Hannes Bleuler, director of the EPFL Robotics Institute, once led the European Space Agency's surgical robot project and was a major player in the European Blue Brain Project. At the salon, Professor Bleuler first introduced the research progress in the field of medical robots and the research results of the team in this field. The commercial surgical robot system represented by the Da Vinci surgical robot has been successfully applied in the clinical field, and its successful promotion marks the great prospect of the robot in promoting the direction of medical progress. Subsequently, Prof. Bleuler introduced the research results of his research team in parallel robots, intelligent control and tactile fusion. Professors said that the single-hole surgical robot system and the new control method represent the development direction of the new generation of surgical robots. Another keynote speaker at the conference was Professor Pierre-André Farine, Director of the EPFL Microelectronics Laboratory, who was a major participant in the European Galileo program. Professor Farine introduced his laboratory's application and cutting-edge technology in 3D high-definition cameras and advanced low-power electronic devices, signal processing algorithms in the field of medical robotics. Professor Farine's main research interests are CMOS sensors in the medical field and ultra-low power wireless transmission systems. More than 200 journal and conference articles have been published in the fields of electronics and signal processing and portable devices, and 55 international patents have been granted. Professor Farine believes that combining microelectronic systems with medical robots can effectively improve the miniaturization and portability of robots and achieve wearable and implantable targets faster. This will be one of the main directions for the development of medical robots in the future.
