How to Improve Winter Duck Benefits

Ducks in winter, due to factors such as climate and environment, are prone to high production costs, low survival rates, and uneconomical economic conditions. Based on years of investigations and practices, the author introduces the issue of improving the benefits of winter ducks that need to be addressed.

Hygiene and disinfection

Sanitary work is an important part of basic duck management. In winter, the weather is changeable, rain and snow are common, and the temperature drops, resulting in decreased duck adaptability and body resistance. Therefore, the sanitation work must be timely, thorough and effective. Particular attention should be paid to environmental sanitation and disinfection work in small and medium-sized ducklings to prevent infections in middle-and-duckling ducklings and poor growth in the early stages. Disposing ducks in small and medium-sized duck houses every day is beneficial to the cleanliness of ground, grass, and air in duck houses, and to prevent middle and small ducks from infecting serositis and other diseases through respiratory tract and skin damage.

The living space of the winter duck group is mostly indoor. The cleanliness of the duck house interior is the key to solving the overall health level of the winter culture. Practice has proved that dry grass and dry grass directly affect the commercial duck weight gain and feed ratio. Wet bedding will produce a large amount of ammonia, causing air pollution in duck houses, leading to the prevalence of duck diseases, affecting growth and development.

Temperature and ventilation

The correct solution and treatment of temperature and ventilation and the relationship between the two in the winter will directly affect the overall production level. In general farms, heat preservation is mainly regulated by simple fires, agricultural membranes, etc., and the indoor temperature of ducks of different days should be strictly adjusted according to technical standards. Before the age of 7 days, the temperature was 34°C~27°C; the 8th to 21st day of age, the temperature was 26°C~18°C; the 22nd day of age was released until slaughter, and the temperature was (15°C~20°C).

Ventilation or not should be determined according to the concentration of ammonia and carbon dioxide in the duck house. Generally, there is no glare and difficulty in breathing in the duck house, and the temperature is appropriate. A small ventilation hole can be used to provide a small air flow through the ventilation facility above the ceiling of the duck house. Wind; If entering the duck house feels glare and breathing difficulties, indicating that the concentration of ammonia and carbon dioxide in the air is too high, the cause should be found, such as the extent of dry grass, drinking water dispenser hygiene, disinfection and other conditions. Problems should be dealt with in a timely manner. At the same time, ventilation facilities or ventilation holes must be opened in the ceiling to allow for large airflow ventilation. Vertical and horizontal ventilation should not be avoided, resulting in a sudden decrease in indoor temperature, resulting in a cold in the ducks.

Drinking water and water temperature control

Water is an essential substance in the growth process of ducks, and it should always be ensured that ducks provide drinking water that is easy to ingest and clean, and at the same time pay attention to the temperature of drinking water, especially the temperature of drinking water of ducks during brooding. Ducklings ideal drinking temperature of 20 °C ~ 25 °C; middling duck ideal drinking temperature of 10 °C or slightly better. Avoid drinking duck ice water in winter. If the duck's drinking water is reduced, 24 hours to 28 hours will cause the duck to eat less, which will affect the growth rate, and the resistance of ducks to the disease will be reduced accordingly.
