Automatic Massage Foot Bath Machine
The automatic massage foot bath machine is a device that uses water and massage rollers to provide a relaxing foot massage. It usually has a basin filled with water and has built-in massage rollers that move and massage the feet. The machine may also have other functions, such as heat therapy, air bubbles, and vibration. New equipment for rapid diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease through blood
On June 28, a research team from the National University of Singapore reported in a new issue of the British journal Nature Communications that they developed a detection system that can quickly diagnose Alzheimer's disease by testing blood samples.
Alzheimer's disease is usually not discovered until the late stage, and early detection and intervention are important to improve the treatment of the disease. The system, called Apex, was invented by the team led by Shao Huilin, an associate professor at the National Institute of Health, Innovation and Technology of the National University of Singapore. Clinical trials have shown that the disease can be detected as early as the patient has not seen any clinical signs.
Currently, the most accurate and reliable method for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease is to have patients undergo digital positron emission tomography (PET) scans of the brain, relying on complex detection equipment. The Apex test costs only $30, only 1% of the scan price, and the operation is simple, and the results can be released within an hour. This new detection system will provide a powerful and effective complement to existing Alzheimer's disease diagnosis and management systems.
An important feature of Alzheimer's disease is the abnormal accumulation of beta-amyloid in the brain of the patient leading to damage to brain cells. This protein is released into the bloodstream into the circulatory system. The Apex detection system uses millions of nanopores on the sensor to capture the protein that may be present in the blood and, when captured, emits a red signal. The more the protein is captured by the sensor, the stronger the red signal, which means the more serious the condition.
The team recruited 84 volunteers for clinical trials, including confirmed Alzheimer's disease patients, mild cognitive impairment, other types of neurodegenerative diseases, and healthy people. The results of the PET scan and the Apex system blood test show that Apex can accurately identify patients with Alzheimer's disease and cognitive impairment, and can distinguish them from healthy people and other patients with neurodegenerative diseases with an accuracy comparable to that of PET scans. .
